CardioNow And
Cedaron Medical, Inc. Sign Agreement To Co-Market
Integrated Cardiology Outcomes Management Software
And Image/Information Management
System
Encinitas, CA. and
Davis, CA. - September 17, 2002 - CardioNow, Inc.
and Cedaron Medical, Inc. announce the signing of
a Letter of Intent which formalizes the companies'
plans to integrate CardioNow's Internet-based
cardiac image and information management and
telecardiology services with Cedaron Medical's
specialty information and outcomes management
system for cardiology patients. This agreement
also includes a non-exclusive joint sales program
targeted at cardiac catheterization laboratories
and dedicated cardiac disease treatment centers
nationwide. The first integrated Cedaron
Medical/CardioNow solution will be implemented at
the Welch Heart Center of Deaconess Billings
Clinic (Billings, Montana).
Cedaron Medical's CardiacCare
product is a HL-7 compatible fully integrated
software system incorporating patient demographics
and medical records, impairment ratings, outcome
analysis and reporting. The software integrates
the National Cardiology Data Registry database of
the American College of Cardiology and the
database of the Society of Thoracic Surgery to
provide real-time benchmarking and outcomes
analysis capabilities.
Karen Bond, President of
Cedaron Medical said, "The ability for CardioNow
to interface our products for angiogram,
echocardiogram, intravascular ultrasound and
peripheral vascular diagnostic reporting with its
image management and telecardiology system will
enable us to offer our customers easy, real-time
access to both reports and images by using
CardioNow's Internet-based technology. The
significance of the added value of providing
access to a cardiac patient's images that Cedaron
Medical can now offer is especially important to
those of our 400 clients who participate in
database reporting and clinical trials. I believe
that this union of two state-of-the-art cardiology
image and information management and delivery
systems provides an exciting opportunity for
cardiac care centers that want to get rid of paper
records, films and CDs and also have instant
secure information access with no geographic
limitations."
CardioNow's Image and Information
Management Service (IMS), designed for use in both
digital and analog cardiac catheterization and
echocardiography labs, digitally captures, stores
and distributes full DICOM diagnostic procedures
using Internet-based technology. Complete cardiac
studies are electronically archived both onsite as
well as offsite in a secure, centralized data
center, where they can then be accessed by
authorized physicians from any PC with Internet
access. CardioNow's IMS provides hospitals with an
affordable, subscription-based service for image
and information management which eliminates the
need for sites to manage film, CDs or invest in
costly PACS/Jukebox storage systems which require
continuous reinvestment. CardioNow also provides
its electronic delivery and data-sharing services
to the world's leading core laboratories
responsible for managing cardiovascular clinical
trials, including the Cardiovascular Research
Foundation (New York) and the Harvard Clinical
Research Institute (Boston), and the industry
sponsors for these trials.
Grady Floyd, President and
Chief Operating Officer of CardioNow, stated that
"The integration of one of the leading cardiac
information and outcomes software programs with
our product that can deliver patient information
efficiently wherever it is needed provides a
tremendous benefit to any cardiac treatment
facility that requires instant, comprehensive
information access. As two 'best-of-breed'
companies, we think that the integration of the
Cedaron Medical's cardiac software system with our
image management and telecardiology system
provides a benefit to customers that is unmatched
today. Through the CardioNow application
programming interface (API), we have the
capability of interfacing with most commercial
cardiology information systems, but we think that
Cedaron Medical has exceptionally robust specialty
cardiology software and we are very pleased to be
seamlessly integrating these two fine
products."
