Cedaron Meets California's Special Needs
When it comes to impairment ratings, the state of California is a
special case.
All of California’s unique impairment regulations are
incorporated into this software including:
- First Report of Occupational Injury (5021)
- PR-2 and PR-2 Chart Note
- PR-4
Mental and behavior impairments, which are calculated differently in
California, are also built into Dexter ImpairmentCare and updated
regularly for our customers who subscribe to Cedaron’s
maintenance service.
No other impairment software program on the market includes all of
these features.
Pain
In California, if a patient has shoulder and leg injuries and also has
pain above and beyond those, state law allows physicians to add a
maximum of 3% additional pain allowance to the total impairment.
Dexter ImpairmentCare does this calculation automatically.

Apportionment For Additional
Pain
California physicians using Dexter ImpairmentCare can click the
California Pain Analysis button and apply the additional allowance to
different injuries.
If you put in more than three, the software sends up an alert.
If a patient has a previous back injury, a portion of the 3% extra pain
allowance that can be applied to that as well as to the current
injury.
California Permanent
Disability Report
Based on what a physician
says about impairment, insurance companies use the California Permanent
Disability Report to determine how much permanently injured workers
will receive weekly or for life, depending on the severity of the
injuries.
According to California PD guidelines, Cedaron’s software
breaks down the information by body part and in a special order based
on occupation, average weekly earnings, age and other criteria.
